YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Niaya White and Lola Lovitt combined to score 26 points as Young Harris College picked up a 55-39 Peach Belt Conference women's basketball victory over the University of North Carolina at Pembroke Monday (Feb. 8) evening at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.

The Mountain Lions improved to 3-4 overall and to 3-4 in the Peach Belt, while the Braves fell to 1-7 and 1-6.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

• The 39 points by UNC Pembroke were the fewest allowed by the Mountain Lions this season (previous low was 48 by Georgia College).
• UNC Pembroke took a 2-0 lead, but the Mountain Lions took the lead for good 28 seconds later as Thalia Carter sank a three-pointer.
• Young Harris used a 7-1 run to take its largest lead - 12 points (28-16) - after an old-fashioned three-point play by White with 2:14 remaining before halftime.
• The closest the Braves would get the rest of the way was six points (30-24) in the early minutes of the third quarter.
• YHC took its largest lead of the game at 16 points (55-39) after Andelin Hill connected on a layup with 81 seconds left in the game.
• The Mountain Lions held the Braves to 5.6 percent shooting from long distance as UNCP went 1-of-18.
• YHC held a 38-26 lead in rebounding, including an 11-5 margin on the offensive boards.
• White finished with 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
• Lovitt tallied 11 points, while Carter finished with nine.
• Samantha Russell led the Mountain Lions with seven rebounds, while Mackenzie Johnson added six.
