WISE, Va. | Sierra Haas and Aubrie Valvo each scored five goals as the Young Harris College women's lacrosse team picked up a 22-9 non-conference victory over the University of Virginia's College at Wise Saturday (Feb. 27) afternoon at Carl Smith Stadium.

The Mountain Lions improved to 1-2, while the Cavaliers fell to 0-2.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

• The Mountain Lions scored the first 10 goals of the match as they took a 10-0 lead after a Leigh Anne Turner strike with 9:47 left in the first half. Valvo accounted for four goals, while Haas had three. Turner had two goals, while Anna Luckie registered the other one.
• The closest the Cavaliers got the rest of the way was eight goals (12-4).
• Nine different Mountain Lions got in the scoring column, Besides Haas and Valvo scoring five each, Taylor Greenberg had four. Turner and Kinsley Purser had two, while Belle Hardwick, Luckie, Emily Flynt, and Ansley Coles had one goal each.
• Turner and Ella Hancock led with two assists each, while Haas, Valvo, Greenberg and Purser had one apiece.
• Valvo had 12 of the 19 draw controls. Harwick and Hancock had three each.
• Hancock led YHC with five ground balls, while Hardwick scooped up three. Six Mountain Lions had two ground balls apiece.
• Hancock led Young Harris with three caused turnovers.
• Maddy Meyers had 10 saves for the Mountain Lions in goal.
• YHC held advantages in shots (31-23), ground balls (27-23) and draw controls (19-14).
