YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College baseball team opened their 2021 season with a sweep of a Peach Belt Conference doubleader over Georgia Southwestern State University Saturday (Feb. 20) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Mountain Lions scored 10 runs in their final three at-bats to win the opener 10-4, before Young Harris score four runs in the final two innings to rally for a 6-5 decision in the nightcap.
Young Harris improved to 2-0 overall and to 2-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Hurricanes fell to 0-2 and 0-2.

Game 1
- Young Harris used a three spot in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 3. Tucker Greer had an RBI single, while the Mountain Lions scored another run on a wild pitch. Jackson Jones added a sacrifice fly.
- After GSW retook the lead in the seventh 4-3, the Mountain Lions retied the game on another Hurricane wild pitch.
- Jones gave the Mountain Lions for good with a one-out homer to right-center in the eighth. YHC added five unearned runs as insurance. Cole Jackson had a two-run single and Greer stroked a three-run homer to right.
- Greer had four of the 11 hits collected by the Mountain Lions, while Noah Fitzgerald had two.
- Greer drove in four runs, while Jones and Jackson had two each.
- McLain Harris (1-0) earned the win with three innings of relief.
Game 2
- With the game tied at 5, Jones' infield single in the eighth scored Kyle Ayers, who led off the inning with a walk.
- Ayers' leadoff homer to left highlighted a three-run seventh for the Mountain Lions. The other two runs scored on wild pitches by the Hurricanes.
- The Mountain Lions had taken a 2-1 lead in the third on RBI singles from Greer and Dahlton Cash.
- Fitzgerald and Bailey Campbell led YHC with two hits each.
- Chase Webb (1-0) earned the win with four strikeouts in four innings of relief.
