ATLANTA, Ga. | Seth McCoy and
Karl Chavis combined for 47 points as the Young Harris College men's basketball team recorded an 82-72 exhibition win over Clinton College Sunday (Dec. 5) afternoon on the campus of Morehouse College.
The Mountain Lions will return action Wednesday (Dec. 8) when they entertain Emmanuel (Ga.) College at 7 p.m. at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountain Lions led wire-to-wire against the Golden Bears.Â
- After the teams swapped opening baskets, Young Harris used as 12-2 run to open up a 14-3 lead on a Chavis layup with 15:50 to go in the first half. Chavis scored seven of his 22 points during the decisive run.
- Clinton got as close as two points after Devin Campbell's layup with 29 seconds before intermission.
- Chavis also helped the Mountain Lions break the game open in the second half. Young Harris used a 14-6 run to open up a 13-point lead - 58-45 - after an old-fashioned three-point play from Chavis to 12:15 to play. Chavis scored 12 of YHC's 14 points during the run.
- The Golden Bears got as close as two points (71-69) with 3:32 to go, but McCoy scored the next five points on two free throws and three-pointer to give YHC a 76-69 lead a minute later.
- McCoy led the Mountain Lions with 25 points on 6-of-12 shooting from distance and went 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.
- Chavis shot 7-of-9 from the floor.
- Eden Davis also finished in double figures with 13 points.
- The Mountain Lions held a 42-32 advantage on the boards, as Carl Cleveland led the way with 13 rebounds. Caleb Towns grabbed six, while Chavis and McCoy pulled down five each.
