Mountain Lions sting Hornets 88-48

McCoy ties school record with nine three-pointers

MELBOURNE, Fla. | Seth McCoy tied his career high with 27 points as the Young Harris College men's basketball team defeated Morris College 88-48 Saturday (Nov. 27) afternoon at the Florida Tech Thanksgiving Classic.

The Mountain Lions improved to 1-5 while the Hornets fell to 0-4. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Dec. 4) at the Arthur J. McAfee Classic with a 2 p.m. tip against Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. 
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • McCoy tied the record for three-point field goals in a single game with nine against the Hornets. McCoy. who went 9-of-17 from long range, tied the record held by Justin Jones, who connected on 9-of-10 three-pointers in a win against the University of North Georgia during the 2018-19 season. McCoy's 27 points tied his career high set against Francis Marion University in the 2019-20 season. 
  • Karl Chavis totaled 14 points with five rebounds, while Christian Schach added 12 points. 
  • Maclean Hoekwater led Young Harris in rebounds, grabbing 10. He also scored six points. 
  • The Mountain Lions held their biggest lead of the night - 48 points (84-36) - after an Avery Jones layup with 4:22 remaining in the second half. 
  • Young Harris controlled the glass out rebounding Morris College 45-30. 
  • The Mountain Lions outscored Morris in the paint 32-14.
