YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Carly Winters scored a career-high 28 points as she sank a school-record eight three-pointers to lead  Young Harris College to a 77-42 non-conference women's basketball victory over Shorter University Tuesday (Nov. 23) evening at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.

The Mountain Lions improved to 5-0 while Shorter University fell to 1-2. The Mountain Lions return to action at home Saturday (Nov. 27) with a 3:30 p.m. tip against Emory & Henry College. 

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

• Winters broke the previous record of seven three-pointers in a game that was held by Winters against Columbus State University last season and Keta Robinette against Southern Wesleyan College in the 2011-12 season.
• Winters shot a career-high 28 points, and grabbed seven rebounds. 
• Christina Nichols recorded 11 points for the Mountain Lions, while Kalen Surles and Niaya White had 10 each.
• Surles distributed eight assists and Carissa Spiker totaled four. 
• As a team Young Harris was 10-for-12 at the free throw line.
• Young Harris led 30-25 at the half, but the Mountain Lions outscored the Hawks 47-17 in the second half 
• YHC shot 70.4 percent (19-of-27) from the floor in the second half, including 85.7 percent (6-of-7) from long range. 
• The Mountain Lions had their biggest lead of the night in the fourth quarter - 37 points (77-40) - after White's layup with 2:29 left. 
• The Mountain Lions out rebounded the Hawks 40-31.
