AUGUSTA, Ga. | Young Harris College's goalkeeper
Henrik Timgren and midfielder
Yesin van der Pluijm have been named Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Players of the Week ending Oct. 3.
Timgren was named the conference's Goalkeeper of the Week, while van der Pluijm was honored as the Defender of the Week for a second consecutive time.
Timgren played 143 shutout minutes as the No. 9 Mountain Lions did not allow a goal in either game last week. The sophomore from Helsingberg, Sweden, played all 98 minutes in a 1-0 overtime win against Georgia Southwestern State University, making one save. He played the second half in a 3-0 shutout over the University of South Carolina-Aiken. He made one save on USCA's lone shot on goal – that coming on a penalty kick in in the second half. Timgren, who has only appeared in three games this season, has not allowed a goal in 160 minutes between the posts.
Van der Pluijm helped Young Harris to a pair of clean sheets this week. The junior midfeilder from Rotterham, The Netherlands guided a YHC defense that allowed only six shots this week with only two coming on goal. The Mountain Lions have five shutouts this season and have only allowed five goals all season. The team has a PBC-leading 0.56 goals-against average, which is also eighth in NCAA Division II.
