Lakers defeat Mountain Lions

Mackenzie Johnson leads YHC with 16 points and 12 rebounds

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Timi'a Swanson and Audrey McElhaney combined for 27 points to lead Clayton State University past Young Harris College 64-42 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday (Jan. 27) at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.

The Lakers, who led wire-to-wire, improved to 5-1 overall and 5-1 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 2-2 and 2-2.

  • Mackenzie Johnson led the Mountain Lions with her first career double double as she scored 16 points and grabbed 11 records. Johnson went 7-of-9 from the floor
  • Andelin Hill tallied her first double figure rebounding game for Young Harris as she pulled down 10 in just under 18 minutes
  • Thalia Carter added eight points for YHC, while Lindsey Caudell had seven.
  • Swanson led the Lakers with 15 points, while McElhaney added 12. Both accounted for eight rebounds.
  • Clayton State scored 26 points off Young Harris' 33 turnovers.
  • Young Harris held a 41-35 advantage on the boards.
