YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The University of North Carolina at Pembroke used a seven-run fifth inning to defeat Young Harris College 10-1 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday (March 8) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Braves won their 10th game in a row as they improved to 17-5 overall and to 10-2 inside the league, while the Mountain Lions fell to 9-8 and 3-6. Young Harris steps back into competition Tuesday (March 10) with a 4 p.m. game against Lee University in Cleveland, Georgia.
The Mountain Lions, who left the bases loaded in the second and third innings, tied the game at 1 in the fourth inning.
Brett Hawkins led off with a single up the middle and moved to second on a
Oscar Serratos ground out. Hawkins came around to score on
Logan Worley's double down the left field line.
The Braves took control of the game as they scored seven runs to open up an 8-1 lead.
Worley and Hawkins led the Mountain Lions with two hits.
Kyle Turner (1-2) took the loss for the Mountain Lions.Â
