CLEVELAND, Tenn. | Ryan Beamish and Luke Hughes each drove in two runs in Lee University's five-run third inning as the Flames defeated Young Harris College 10-5 in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday (March 11) afternoon at Olympic Field.
The Flames improved to 14-9, while the Mountain Lions fell to 9-9. Young Harris opens a home Peach Belt Conference series against Flagler College Friday (March 13) at 7 p.m. at Zell B. Miller Field.
Young Harris took a 1-0 lead in the first on
Dahlton Cash's RBI ground out. After Lee scored three runs in the bottom half of inning, the Mountain Lions tied the game at 3 with single runs in the second and third innings.
T.J. Byrd had a RBI double to center field in the second before Cash drove another run in on a ground out.
Lee broke the game open with a five-run third inning to take an 8-3 lead. Young Harris, which only managed five hits against nine different Lee pitchers, was able to score a run each in the fourth and sixth innings.
Tucker Greer singled home Byrd, who reached on a one-out triple to left-center field, in the fourth. Byrd added an RBI ground out in the sixth.
Byrd led the Mountain Lions with two hits while Greer,
Jackson Jones and
Oscar Serratos added a hit apiece. Byrd and Cash each drove in two runs.
Brett Jackson (0-1) took the loss for YHC.
