YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | LeeAysia Williamson scored 20 points to lead Columbus State University past Young Harris College 66-48 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball victory Saturday (Feb. 29) afternoon at the YHC Basketball Arena.
The Cougars improved to 18-8 overall and 13-7 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 15-14 and 9-11. Young Harris qualified for the upcoming PBC Tournament for the first time in program history and will find out its quarterfinal opponent Sunday (March 1) when the conference office releases the tournament pairings.
Columbus State, which led 23-19 at the half, broke the game open by outscoring the Mountain Lions 29-16 in the third quarter.
Valeria Merios added 14 points for the Cougars, while Kailha Carter and Eboni Williams each tallied 10 points.
Sarah Woghiren led YHC with nine points and eight rebounds, while
Samantha Russell and
Mackenzie Johnson each tallied eight points. Johnson also pulled down eight rebounds.
