GREENWOOD, S.C. | Jessica Harris scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead top seed Lander University past No. 8 seed Young Harris College 66-50 in the quarterfinals of the 2020 Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Tournament Wednesday (March 4) evening at Finis Horne Arena.
The Bearcats, who are ranked No. 23 nationally, improved to 24-5 and advance to Saturday's (March 7) semifinals . The Mountain Lions, who were making the program's first-ever appearance in the PBC Tournament, concluded their season at 15-14. It is the first winning campaign in six years. The 15 wins were a nine-game improvement over last season and the 15 wins are the third-most in the program's history.
Young Harris hung tough with Lander through the first quarter as the Bearcats led 16-10 after the first 10 minutes. Lander used a 15-4 run in the opening minutes of the second quarter to open up a 31-14 lead on an Amiaya Melvins jumper. 
Lander led by as many as 28 points (58-23) late in the third quarter before the Mountain Lions outscored the Bearcats 21-10 in the final quarter.
Harris was the lone Bearcat in double figures.
Carly Winters led the Mountain Lions with a career-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including four from three-point range. 
Niaya White added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. 
Kalen Surles added eight points, while 
Mackenzie Johnson added a team-high six rebounds,
