AMERICUS, Ga. | Cole Jackson had two doubles and drove in two runs as No. 33 Young Harris College defeated Georgia Southwestern State University 6-1 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday (Feb. 23) afternoon at Hurricane Field.
The Mountain Lions won the three-game weekend series with the Hurricanes to improved to 8-3 overall and to 2-1 in the Peach Belt, while Georgia Southwestern fell to 4-9 and 2-4. Young Harris returns to Zell B. Miller Field Tuesday (Feb. 25) for a 2 p.m. contest against Carson-Newman University.
Georgia Southwestern took a 1-0 lead in the second before YHC took a 2-1 lead in the fourth.

T.J. Byrd, who started the inning by singling up the middle, on a sacrifice fly to left field. Jackson broke the tie with the first of his two doubles that scored
Oscar Serratos, who had reached on a walk.
The Mountain Lions pushed their lead to 4-1 with two more runs in the sixth. Jackson smacked an RBI double to right field before
Brett Hawkins drove in the other run on a single to left field.
Young Harris added two insurance runs on a
Tucker Greer single to right-center in the eighth inning as the Mountain Lions opened up a 6-1 advantage.
Chase Webb (1-0) earned the win with 6 1/3 innings of relief. He surrendered just one hit and struck out four.
