SALISBURY, N.C. | Catawba College used a strong second half to rally for 19-16 women's lacrosse victory over Young Harris College Saturday (April 13) afternoon at Shuford Stadium.
The Catawba Indians improved to 6-8, while the Mountain Lions fell to 8-6. Young Harris returns to Gulf South Conference action Wednesday (April 17) for a 4 p.m. match against Lee University at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
After back-to-back-to-back goals from
Hayley Bartlett,
Erika Cross and
Taylor Greenberg in just over a two minute span gave the Mountain Lions a 14-8 lead with 19:36 remaining. Catawba would hold Young Harris to just two goals the remainder of the match.
Bartlett led Young Harris with seven goals, while Greenberg,
Anna Luckie,
Leigh Anne Turner and Cross had two goals apiece while Peek found the back of the net once. Bartlett and Cross had four assists each. Greenberg scooped up five ground balls, while
Hannah Sacristan and Cross corralled three.
Kelsey Dover caused three turnovers for the Mountain Lions, while Sacristan and Cross had two. Luckie registered six draw controls, wile
Kirsten Barth had four.
Rachel Robb had 12 saves in goal for Young Harris.
