YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Emmanuel (Ga.) College held off Young Harris College 4-3 in a non-conference men's tennis match Wednesday (April 10) afternoon at the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Lions improved to 7-11, while the Mountain Lions, who have suffered five 4-3 decisions this season, fell to 1-12. Young Harris returns to action Thursday (April 11) with a 2 p.m Peach Belt Conference match in Aiken, South Carolina, against No. 6 University of South Carolina-Aiken.
Emmanuel took a 1-0 lead after earning the doubles point, but
Javier Villar claimed a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles to tie the match. Emmanuel won the next two singles matches to go ahead 3-1 before
Ignacio Ascarrunz recorded a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. However, Emmanuel was also to clinch the win as Lucas HIdeo Sasaski picked up a three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Herman Ronnberg earned a 6-7 (5), 7-5, 1-0 (8) for the Mountain Lions at No. 5 singles.
