YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.  |  Young Harris College defeated Carson-Newman University 8-0 in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday (March 5) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 12-7, while the Eagles fell to 16-4. Young Harris hosts the University of Southern Indiana Wednesday (March 6) at 2 p.m.

Corley Reynolds opened up the scoring for the Mountain Lions in the fifth inning with a double to left field that scored Cole Jackson. Tucker Greer and Brett Hawkins reach on back-to-back infield singles to extend the YHC lead to 3-0. Two more runs came across after Zavier Lushington reached on an error.

Jackson drew a bases-loaded walk before Tristin Smith was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it a 7-0 lead for the Mountain Lions. Reynolds concluded the eight-run fifth inning with a single down the right field line that scored Bailey Campbell

Carson-Newman tallied three runs in the seventh and ninth innings but fell short with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth.
