MARIETTA, Ga. | Carly Vaccaro scored five goals to lead No. 10 University of Tampa past Young Harris College 24-7 in a non-conference women's lacrosse match Saturday (March 30) afternoon at Kell High School.
The Spartans improved to 8-2, while the Mountain Lions fell to 6-5. Young Harris returns to the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Saturday (April 6)Â for a noon Gulf South Conference match against the University of Montevallo.
Anna Luckie tied the match at 1 for the Mountain Lions with 25:16 remaining in the first half, but the Spartans took control of the match by scoring the next 10 goals to open up an 11-1 lead with 6:48 remaining.
Hayley Bartlett led YHC with four goals, while Luckie added two and
Mary Deatrick scored once. Luckie,
Leigh Anne Turner and
Erika Cross registered an assist apiece. Cross paced the Mountain Lions with four ground balls, while
Hannah Sacristan corralled three. Turner and Milford each scooped up two ground balls. Luckie had five draw controls for Young Harris, while Cross had three.
Rachel Robb collected 10 saves in the Mountain Lion goal.
