JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. | Young Harris College defeated Carson-Newman University 10-4 in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday (March 27) afternoon at the Silver Diamond.
The Mountain Lions improved to 20-10, while the Eagles fell to 20-13. Young Harris hosts Georgia Southwestern State University in a 2 p.m. Peach Belt Conference doubleheader Saturday (March 30) at Zell B. Miller Field.
Ethan Goforth put C-N on the board first in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run to left field.
Zavier Lushington gave the Mountain Lions the lead (2-1) with his team-leading seventh home run right field in the top of the third inning.
Dahlton Cash added to the lead with a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning.
Cole Jackson started a six-run ninth inning for Young Harris with a single up the middle that scored
T.J. Byrd.
Corley Reynolds picked up a two RBI double down the left field line before Lushington knocked in two more runs with a single to left field.
Dixon Craft concluded the inning with a bases-loaded walk to make it a 10-3 advantage for the Mountain Lions.
Tucker Daniel (3-0) picked up the win for Young Harris as he allowed one hit and struck out three in two innings pitched.
