ROME, Ga. | Hayley Bartlett scored four goals to lead Young Harris College past Shorter University 18-4 in a Gulf South Conference women's lacrosse match Saturday (March 23) afternoon at Ben Brady Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 5-4 overall and to 2-1 in GSC, while the Hawks fell to 4-6 and 1-3. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (March 27) when they travel to Cleveland, Tennessee, for a 3 p.m. GSC match against Lee University.
Young Harris took control of the game by scoring the first eight goals.
Taylor Greenberg and
Anna Luckie eac scored two goals, while Bartlett,
Mary Deatrick,
Leigh Anne Turner and
Channing Milford each scored once during the decisive run. The Mountain Lions, which outshot Shorter 37-11 (31-6 on goal), led 11-1 at the half.
Greenberg finished with three goals along with
Sierra Haas. Deatrick, Luckie and Turner each had two goals, while Milford and Cross had one each. Cross led YHC with four assists, while Bartlett dished out three. Deatrick added two assists, while
Maddie Peek and Turner had one apiece. Deatrick won five draw controls, while
Kirsten Barth and Milford had three each.Â
Hannah Sacristan caused four turnovers for the Mountain Lions, while Cross had three.
Rachel Robb had two saves in the Young Harris goal.
