YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Landon Silver's RBI single in the top of the 10th inning gave Lee University a 5-4 baseball victory over Young Harris College Wednesday (March 20) evening at Zell B. Miller Field.

The Flames improved to 11-16, while the Mountain Lions fell to 17-9. Young Harris will travel to St. Augustine, Florida, for a 2 p.m. Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against Flagler College Saturday (March 23).

Young Harris took a 1-0 lead  in the first as Tucker Greer laced a triple to the left-center field gap and later scored on a ground out by Brett Hawkins. Lee scored unearned runs in the third and fourth innings and added two runs in the fifth to open up a 4-1 lead.

Young Harris pulled within a run at 4-3 on Greer's two-run homer to center field in the fifth inning, scoring Ethan Underwood, who had reached on a single to left-center field. It was Greer's first home run of 2019.

The game was delayed for two hours and five minutes as the lights would not come one and the issue was fixed. Young Harris tied the game at 4 on Zavier Lushington's leadoff homer to right center in the eighth inning. The Mountain Lions had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the ninth as they loaded the bases - singles by Corley Reynolds and Underwood and an intentional pass to Greer - with no one out, but reliever Michael Hendricks (3-3) wiggled out of harm's way by striking out the next three batters.

Justen Freeman led off the Lee 10th with a walk and was sacrificed over to second on a Dalton Ney bunt. After passed ball moved Freeman to third, Silver singled through the left side off reliver Jake Tomelevage (2-1) to give the Flames a 5-4 lead.

Thomas Zazzaro earned his first save for Lee as he retired Young Harris in order in the bottom half of the inning.

Lushington led YHC, which outhit Lee 13-5, with three hits, while Underwood and Greer had two apiece. Reliver McLain Harris registered nine strikeouts - seven in a row - in 3 2/3 innings.
