YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Mary Deatrick scored four goals to lead a balanced Young Harris College attack as the Mountain Lions registered a 21-5 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over Tusculum University Tuesday (March 19) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 4-4, while the Pioneers fell to 1-7. Young Harris returns to action with the first of three road matches Saturday (March 23) at 1 p.m. when they face Shorter University in a Gulf South Conference match in Rome, Georgia.
Young Harris reeled off 11 unanswered goals early to open up a 12-1 lead on a
Leigh Anne Turner strike off a
Hayley Bartlett assist with 10:20 left in the first half and never looked back.
Deatrick was one of eight Mountain Lions to score at least two goals.
Ansley Coles found the back of the net three times, while
Erika Cross, Bartlett,
Maddie Peek, Turner,
Sierra Haas and
Taylor Greenberg each scored twice.
Anna Luckie and
Channing Milford had one goal apiece. Cross led the way with four assists, while Bartlett tallied three. Peek and Turner dished out two assists, while Haas and Luckie had one each.
Deatrick added four draw controls for Young Harris, while
Kirsten Barth registered three. Greenberg,
Hannah Sacristan and Bartlett each scooped up two ground balls. Cross caused three turnovers, while Luckie had her hand into forcing two turnovers.
Rachel Robb (9) and
Hailey Johnson (2) combined to turn away 11 Tusculum shots.
