INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | Parker Kump scored six goals to lead No. 6 University of Indianapolis past Young Harris College 14-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference men's lacrosse opener for both teams Sunday (March 10) morning at Key Stadium.
The Greyhounds improved to 5-0 overall and to 1-0 in the league, while the Mountain Lions slipped to 3-4 and 0-1. It was a rematch of the inaugural 2018 GLVC Tournament title match. Young Harris travels to Painesville, Ohio, Tuesday (March 12) for a noon match against Lake Erie College.
Young Harris took a 2-1 lead with 4:24 left in the first quarter after
Bevan Pate and
Beau Henson sandwiched goals around a Kump strike. UIndy took control of the match nine of the next 10 goals to take an 8-3 halftime lead.
Pate led the Mountain Lions with three goals, while Henson nabbed two.
Billy Magill and
Parker Lamarque also scored a goal each. Pate,
Garrett Blake and
Ryley Zopfi and
Daniel Zimny had an assist apiece.
Bobby Kidd III led Young Harris with six ground balls, while
Alex Venturino and
Tyler Oglesby each scooped up three ground balls. Venturino and Oglesby each recorded two caused turnovers.
Eric Lemire tallied three face-off wins, while
Mason King posted 17 saves in goal.
