YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College fell to Georgia College 38-37 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Monday (Feb. 4) evening at the YHC Basketball Arena.
The Bobcats improved to 8-11 overall and 6-7 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-17 and 1-13. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Feb. 6) on the road in Morrow, Georgia, against Clayton State University in a 5:30 p.m. PBC contest.
Lindsey Caudell gave the Mountain Lions a 16-13 with a three-pointer 3:35 into the second quarter. Young Harris took a 21-17 lead into halftime after a free throw by
Sarah Woghiren.
Cassidy Markle gave the Bobcats a 33-32 lead after a layup and converting a free throw 2:37 into the fourth quarter.
Woghiren tied the game at 37 for the Mountain Lions with a three-pointer at the 2:06 mark in the fourth. Erin Drynan scored the winning point for Georgia College after converting a free throw with 12 seconds left to play. Young Harris had a chance to tie or take the lead in the final seconds, but missed a layup and two free throws.
Woghiren led Young Harris with nine points and six rebounds.
Pamela Diokpara totaled eight points and 19 rebounds, while
Haylie Shope added 11 rebounds.
Sydney Cleveland had 12 points and four steals for the Bobcats, while Drynan added five points and nine rebounds.
