DAHLONEGA, Ga. | Young Harris College fell to the University of North Georgia 84-56 in the Battle of Blood Mountain women's basketball game Wednesday (Feb. 13) evening at the Convocation Center.
The Nighthawks improved to 18-4 overall and 13-3 in the Peach Belt Conference, while the Mountain Lions fell to 4-19 and 2-15. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Feb. 16) as they host the University of North Carolina Pembroke in a 1:30 PBC contest at the YHC Basketball Arena.
Sarah Woghiren made a jumper with 3:48 left in the first quarter to to bring the Mountain Lions with one (11-10) before the Nighthawks ended the quarter on a 9-1 run.
Amber Skidgel gave North Georgia a 17-point lead (33-16) with a three-pointer at the 4:23 mark in the second quarter. The closest Young Harris would come the rest of the game is a 10-point deficit (36-26) after a layup by
Pamela Diokpara with two minutes left before halftime.
Diokpara finished with 20 points and eight rebounds for the Mountain Lions while
Grace Isakson had 10 points and six rebounds.
Skidgel led the Nighthawks with 28 points and six assists, while Julianne Sutton had 21 points and five rebounds.
