ANDERSON, S.C. | Anderson (S.C.) University held off Young Harris College 4-3 in a non-conference men's tennis match Wednesday (Feb. 13) afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex.
The Trojans improved to 5-2, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-3. Young Harris will return to competition Monday (Feb. 18) when they travel to Harrogate, Tennessee, for a 1 p.m. match against Lincoln Memorial University.
Anderson took a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. Young Harris'
Kash Reddiyar and
Ignacio Ascarrunz won 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.
The teams split the six singles matches. Young Harris tied the match at 2 after Reddiyar (No. 3) and Ascarrunz (No. 2) all picked up straight-set wins. Young Harris's
Javier Villar pulled out a three-set win at No. 1 singles to give the Mountain Lions a 3-2 lead, but the Trojans won the final two matches - both in three sets - to claim the win.
