FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. | Young Harris College opened up the 2019-20 season with a 73-60 win over Lees-McRae College in the Peach Belt-Conference Carolinas Challenge at Emmanuel (Ga.) College
The Mountain Lions improved to 1-0, while the Bobcats fell to 0-1. Young Harris will face Emmanuel Saturday (Nov. 9) at 6 p.m.
The Mountain Lions started the game on a 19-0 run through the first 7:49 led by
Sarah Woghiren,
Niaya White, and
Carly Winters. Young Harris held their largest lead (32-9) with 7:06 left in the second quarter.
White led all scorers with 19 points and grabbed four rebounds. Woghiren totaled 17 points and five rebounds, while Winters tallied 12 points and eight rebounds.
Malikh Meyers led the Bobcats with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Jala Holloman had 14 points and three rebounds. Destiny Johnson had 11 points and five rebounds.
