Saints use strong third quarter to get past Young Harris 63-56

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.  |  Young Harris College fell to Flagler College 63-56 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Saturday (Jan. 19) afternoon at the Flagler Gymnasium.

The Saints improved to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-13 and 1-9. The Mountain Lions travel to Augusta, Georgia, Monday (Jan. 21) to take on Augusta University in a 1:30 p.m. PBC contest.

Flagler started the game on an 11-3 run over the first 6:34. The Mountain Lions ended the quarter on a 5-0 run to take an 11-8 deficit into the second quarter. The Saints took a four-point lead (19-15) into halftime after a layup by Chris Wilson with 1:22 remaining. 

Young Harris came within two points (21-19) after a layup by Grace Isakson 1:38 into the third quarter. Flagler pulled away from the Mountain Lions, ending the third quarter with a 15 point advantage (41-26). Young Harris got back in the game with a 9-0 run, culminating on Pamela Diokpara's steal and layup that got the Mountain Lions within four points (59-55) with 21 seconds left. Flagler was able to hold off Young Harris as they sank four of six free throws in the final seconds.

Diokpara led the Mountain Lions with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Lindsey Caudell tallied nine points. Sarah Woghiren totaled eight points and four rebounds. 

Wilson had a double-double for the Saints with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Tabitha Odabe added a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds with six blocks. Dayuna Johnson tallied 10 points and three rebounds.
