ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Although the Young Harris College baseball team was eliminated from the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Saturday (May 12) with two pool play losses, the Mountain Lions wrapped up their most successful season in six years.
The Mountain Lions fell to tournament host Flagler College 11-0 (seven innings) in the opener at Drysdale Field, before dropping to No. 10-ranked Columbus State University 7-2 in the finale.
Young Harris ended their season with a 26-24 record. The 26 wins - seven came against squads ranked in the Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, are the third most in the NCAA era for the Mountain Lions and the most since 2012 when they won 36. Young Harris, which was making their first-ever appearance in the PBC Tournament, won a program-best 15 league games in 2018.

Brett Graczyk in the opener, but Flagler starter Jett Walsh (8-2) held the Mountain Lions at bay with a complete game.
Blake Metivier (1-3) took the loss for YHC.
Columbus State jumped out to a 7-0 lead after four innings as the Cougars scored four runs on just two hits in the third and three more - two on a Drew Webb homer - an inning later.Â
Young Harris got a run back in the seventh and ninth innings. Washington led off the seventh with a double to left and moved to third base on a wild pitch.
Tristin Smith scored Washington on his sacrifice fly to left field. In the ninth,
Cory Ewald led off with a single up the middle and pinch hitter
Zach Hopkins reached on a throwing error to put runners on the corner. Pinch hitter
Nick Crawford - in his first career at-bat - beat out an infield single and drove in
Steven Eichhorn, who pinch ran for Ewald, with the final run.
Tyler Cadenhead (8-0) earned the complete-game victory, while
Dylan Gibeau (4-3) took the loss.
Jones and Ewald led the Mountain Lions with two hits apiece.
