LAKELAND, Fla. | Florida Southern College recorded a 23-10 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over Young Harris College Monday (March 5) afternoon at Moccasin Field.
The Mocs, who are ranked No. 1 in the latest IWLCAÂ Division II Coaches Poll, improved to 5-0, while the Mountain Lions suffered their first defeat as they fell to 5-1. Young Harris stays in the sunshine state for a 7 p.m. match against No. 6 Florida Institute of Technology Wednesday (March 7) in Melbourne, Florida.
Florida Southern scored eight of the first nine goals en route to the win.
Kendra Parenteau led the Mountain Lions with two goals, while
Mary Deatrick,
Rachel Lepine,
Anna Luckie,
Ansley Coles,
Channing Milford,
Nicole Kernohan,
Meghan Tonnesen and
Erika Cross each scored once. Cross dished out two assists, while Lepine, Parenteau and
Hayley Bartlett had one apiece.
Deatrick, Lepine and
Kirsten Barth had three draw controls each for Young Harris.
Elli Flaig scooped up four ground balls to led the Mountain Lions, while Cross had three. Lepine, Luckie,
Maddie Peek,
Kelsey Dover,
Hannah Sacristan and
Rachel Robb added two each.
Robb recorded 13 saves in goal for the Mountain Lions, while
Julia Darroch had three.
