CLEVELAND, Tenn. | Young Harris College scored the first 10 goals of the match as they easily defeated Lee University 19-3 in a Gulf South Conference women's lacrosse match Wednesday (March 28) afternoon at the South Quad Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 7-5 overall and to 5-0 in the Gulf South, while the Flames fell to 7-6 and 2-4. Young Harris returns to the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Saturday (March 31) for an 11 a.m. GSC match against Shorter University. Prior to the match, the Mountain Lions will recognize their eight seniors.
Rachel Lepine,
Kendra Parenteau and
Hayley Bartlett each scored twice as the Mountain Lions raced out to a 10-0 lead with 10:51 remaining in the first half. Young Harris dominated Lee in shots (39-7), ground balls (38-26) and draw controls (14-10).
Bartlett led the Mountain Lions with four goals, while
Maddie Peek and Parenteau had three goals apiece. Lepine,
Leigh Anne Turner and
Erika Cross found the back of the net twice, while
Kelsey Dover,
Nicole Kernohan and
Meghan Tonnesen had one goal each. Cross paced the Mountain Lions with three assists, while
Anna Luckie collected two. Peek, Kernohan, Parenteau and
Ansley Coles each registered an assist.
Cross led Young Harris with four draw controls, while Lepine tallied three and
Channing Milford added two more. Cross scooped up five ground balls, while
Hannah Sacristan collected four. Kernohan and Lepine corralled three ground balls apiece.Â
Julia Darroch (two) and
Rachel Robb (one) combined for three saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
