YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Nine different players scored as the Young Harris College women's lacrosse team picked up a 19-5 non-conference win over Tennessee Wesleyan University on a crisp Friday (March 2) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 5-0, while the Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 5 in the NAIA, fell to 3-1. Young Harris will now travel to the sunshine state for two matches next weekend, starting with an 11 a.m. match Monday (March 5) against Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. Florida Southern is currently ranked No. 1 in the latest IWLCAÂ Division II Coaches Poll.
Rachel Lepine scored twice,
Nicole Kernohan added another goal and
Kendra Parenteau added two more as Young Harris jumped out to a 5-0 lead just 5:46 into the match. YHC took a 14-3 lead at the half.
Parenteau and
Rachel Lepine each scored four goals, while
Leigh Anne Turner added three more.
Erika Cross and Kernohan scored twice as the Mountain Lions outhit Tennessee Wesleyan 31-14.
Mary Deatrick,
Katie McNutt,
Ansley Coles and
Hayley Bartlett each found the back of the net once.
Anna Luckie had four assists for Young Harris, while Cross had three more. Parenteau tallied two assists, while Deatrick had one.
Deatrick had five draw controls for the Mountain Lions, while Cross had three and
Kirsten Barth added two more.
Julia Darroch collected four ground balls for Young Harris, while Lepine and
Meghan Tonnesen each scooped up three apiece.
Darroch (five) and
Rachel Robb (one) combined to stop six shots between the pipes for the Mountain Lions.
