YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | ShyAnne Toomer scored four goals to lead Slippery Rock University past Young Harris College 18-6 in a non-conference women's lacrosse match on a blustery Monday (March 12) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Rock improved to 4-0, while the Mountain Lions fell to 5-3. Young Harris travels to Cumming, Georgia, to face Rollins College in a 6:15 p.m. match Thursday (March 15) at North Forsyth High School.
Anna Luckie and
Mary Deatrick scored for the Mountain Lions in the first seven minutes of the match as the teams were tied at 2. Slippery Rock scored the next eight goals to open up a 10-2 lead on a Kelly Muenster goal with 26:57 remaining in the match.
In addition to Luckie and Deatrick,
Maddie Peek,
Nicole Kernohan,
Meghan Tonnesen and
Erika Cross each scored a goal for the Mountain Lions. Luckie and
Kendra Parenteau each recorded an assist.
Rachel Lepine and Tonnesen led YHC with four draw controls while Deatrick had three. Eli Flaig and Tonnesen tallied four ground balls, while
Hannah Sacristan and Cross each scooped up three apiece.
Rachel Robb (three) and
Julia Darroch (four) combined for seven saves in net for the Mountain Lions.
