HICKORY, N.C. | Joe Buduo led Lenoir-Rhyne University with four goals as the No. 7-ranked Bears defeated Young Harris College 18-7 in non-conference men's lacrosse match Saturday (Feb. 3) afternoon at Shuford Stadium.
It was the season opener for both teams. Young Harris, which faces nationally ranked teams in its first four matches of the season, returns to the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field next Saturday (Feb. 10) for its 1 p.m. home opener against No. 17 Lindenwood University.
Buduo, Eric Dickinson and Ben Corrigan each scored two goals apiece for the Bears, who score seven of the first eight goals in the match, as they took a 12-3 lead at the half.
Bruce Silk and
Matty Ledon led Young Harris with two goals each, while
Bevan Pate,
Hayes Johnson and
Daniel Zimny had a goal each.
Chandler Bradley,
Nolan Moon and Silk registered an assist each for the Mountain Lions.
Zach Stephenson recorded 15 face-off wins for Young Harris and led the way with five ground balls.
Sean Dever scooped up three ground balls, while
Tyler Oglesby and
Garrett Blake had two each. Dever had 18 saves in goal for YHC.
