WINTER PARK, Fla. | Rollins College scored four runs in the second inning en route to a 6-0 non-conference baseball victory over Young Harris College Saturday (Feb. 3) afternoon at Alfond Stadium.
The Tars improved to 2-0, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-2. The final game of the series will be played Sunday (Feb. 4) at 11 a.m. The game was moved up an hour in order to try and beat expected rain later in the day.
Rollins scored four runs - two earned - off YHC starter
Mat Szabo (0-1) as they took advantage of a Mountain Lion fielding error. Billy Lamm had an RBI single while Cameron Meeh drew a bases-loaded walk. The final run came after Luke Reidy was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The Tars added two more runs in the sixth.
Brad Case (1-0) earned the win for the Tars as he struck out six and scattered four hits. Caleb Jakes struck out three in two innings of relief to complete the shutout.
Zavier Lushington had two of the five Young Harris hits, while
Rudy Gaona,
Jackson Jones, and
Royce Woolfolk collected one each. Jones led off the fifth inning with a double to left-center field.
