Parenteau helps Mountain Lions douse Flames 21-10

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Kendra Parenteau scored eight goals and assisted on four others as Young Harris College defeated Lee University 21-10 in a Gulf South Conference women's lacrosse match on a rainy Wednesday (Feb. 28) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 4-0 overall and to 4-0 in the Gulf South, while the Flames fell to 3-2 and 0-2. Young Harris will face Tennessee Wesleyan University, which is ranked No. 5 in the latest NAIA Top 10 poll, in a 4 p.m. home match Friday (March 2).

Lee took a 6-5 lead on a free-position shot by Kaylyn Dillion with 7:37 left in the first half. Young Harris got a goal from Anna Luckie 37 seconds later to knot the score at 6. That was the first eight unanswered goals that saw Young Harris take a 13-6 lead with 28:35 remaining on the third of three Parenteau goals to start the second half.

The Flamed got a goal back, but Young Harris scored three of the next four goals to open up a 17-8 lead on a Parenteau strike with 18:38 to go.

Rachel Lepine, Channing Milford, Nicole Kernohan and Meghan Tonnesen each scored twice for the Mountain Lions, who outshot Lee 34-20, while Luckie, Maddie Peek, Kelsey Dover, Erika Cross and Katie McNutt also found the back of the net once. Cross added three assists, while Luckie posted two.

Young Harris held a 21-12 advantage in draw controls. Kirsten Barth and Tonnesen had six draw controls, while Cross tallied five and Lepine had three. The Mountain Lions had a 20-15 edge in ground balls. Barth scooped up three, while Lepine, Dover, and Hannah Sacristan had three apiece.
