FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. | Hanna Grogan and Taylor Delasbour combined for 29 points as Emmanuel (Ga.) College pulled away for a 79-57 non-conference women's basketball victory Tuesday (Nov. 27) evening.
The Lions improved to 4-2 on the season, while the Mountain Lions fell to 1-4. Young Harris opens up Peach Belt Conference play Saturday (Dec. 1) with a 1:30 p.m. contest against the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in Pembroke, North Carolina.
Young Harris took its largest lead when
Dee Dee McLane hit a jumper with 2:31 remaining in the first quarter to open up an 11-7 margin. Emmanuel took control of the contest by scoring the final seven points of the quarter to take a 14-11 lead. The Mountain Lions rallied to tie the game at 14 on an
Elle Hutchinson jumper with 7:59 to go before halftime. The Lions used a 16-5 run to open up an 11-point lead (30-19) on two Delasbour free throws with 3:09 left.
Young Harris closed the margin to five points (34-29) at the half after
Grace Isakson hit a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left. Isakson, who led the Mountain Lions with a career-high 19 points, converted 11-of-12 free throws in the game. An
Elle Hutchinson three-pointer to start the second half narrowed the deficit to two points (34-32), but Emmanuel scored the next 12 points to take a 46-32 after Delasbour sank a three-pointer with 4:27 to go in the third quarter. The closest the Mountain Lions would get the remainder of the game was 10 points.
Grogan led Emmanuel with 16 points, while Delasbour added 13.
Isakson added five rebounds for the Mountain Lions, while Hutchinson added eight points.
Pamela Diokpara grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for Young Harris.
