ANDERSON, S.C. | Madison Baggett and Ace Easter combined to score 41 points as Anderson (S.C.) University defeated Young Harris College 71-48 Wednesday (Nov. 14) evening at the Abney Center in a non-conference women's basketball game.
The Trojans improved to 2-1 on the season, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-3. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Nov. 17) as they travel to Montgomery, Alabama, to take on Auburn University at Montgomery in a 2 p.m. Central time contest.
Anderson led by as many as seven points during the first half. The Trojans took a 28-21 lead after Alexy Mollenhauer connected on a jumper with 3:06 remaining before the half. Young Harris closed out the quarter on a 7-2 run that saw the Mountain Lions closed to within two points (30-28) after
Elle Hutchinson hit a layup with eight seconds left.
Anderson took control of the game after opening the third quarter on a 17-3 run that saw the Trojans open up a 47-31 lead after a steal and layup by Easter with 5:07 to go.
Mollenhauer recorded and double-double with 12 points and 18 rebounds for the Trojans. Baggett tallied 22 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Easter totaled 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Hutchinson led the way for the Mountain Lions with 11 points, five assists, and three steals.
Pamela Diokpara tallied nine points and 10 rebounds, while
Avery Jordan totaled nine points and four rebounds.
