SAVANNAH, Ga. | Armstrong State University picked up a pair of one-run decisions as the Pirates swept a Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader from Young Harris College Saturday (April 22) afternoon at Pirate Field.
The Pirates improved to 21-22 overall and 5-15 in the Peach Belt after picking up a 8-7 win in 14 innings and a 9-8 victory in game two. The Mountain Lions fell to 14-30 and 6-17 as they will wrap up their season Sunday (April 23) with an 11 a.m. contest against Armstrong State.
The Pirates used a six-run third inning in the opener, while the Mountain Lions scored runs in five different innings.
Zach Beggs forced extra innings with his leadoff home run - his team leading 12th of the season - to right field in the eighth.
It would stay that way until the 14th inning. Young Harris took a 7-6 lead when pinch hitter
Royce Woolfolk's double down the right field line scored
Nick Sexton, who led off the inning with an infield single. With two runs in scoring position, the Mountain Lions looked to be in position to add to their lead, but Armstrong reliever Caleb Woods (2-4) got out of further harm as he got the next batter to line into a double play to end the inning.

Zach Wall (0-2) to win the game.
Young Harris had 15 hits in game one with Wall leading the the way with four. Wall hit his seventh homer of the season when he led off the fifth with a long ball to left, Sexton added three more hits, while
Luke Miller had two more.
Zach Odom led off the game with a homer to left - his third of 2017.Â
After the Pirates scored three runs in both the second and third innings to take a 6-1 lead, the Mountain Lions used a five-run fifth to knot the game at 6. Wall had a two-run single up the middle and
Rudy Gaona followed with an RBI single. Miller drove in a run on his fielder's choice before
Cory Ewald tied the game at 5 on a single through the right side.
Armstrong took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth and another in the eighth to hold on for the win. Odom, who became the all-time leader in hits in the NCAA era with 201, had RBI singles in the seventh and ninth innings for YHC.
Young Harris had 17 hits in the second game, with Odom, the senior infielder from Blairsville, Georgia, and Sexton leading the way with four apiece. Wall, Westmoreland and Ewald had two hits each.
Hudson Graham (1-5) took the loss for the Mountain Lions.
