CLEVELAND, Tenn. | Nicole Kernohan and
Kelsey Dover scored five goals apiece as Young Harris College easily defeat Lee University 21-1 in a Gulf South Conference women's lacrosse match Wednesday (April 12) afternoon at South Quad Field.
The Mountain Lions won their third consecutive match to improve to 9-7 overall and remain in a first-place tie in the league at 6-1. The Flames, who are a first-year program, remained winless in 13 matches, including seven in the GSC. Young Harris will host Shorter University Saturday (April 12) in a key 2 p.m. GSC match at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field. The Mountain Lions will honor their seniors after the match.
Kendra Parenteau added four goals for Young Harris, which built up a 12-1 lead at the half, while
Maddie Peek,
Rachel Lepine and
Kaylynn Roach had two apiece.
Mary Deatrick accounted for the other goal for the Mountain Lions, who outshot Lee 42-11. Peek led YHC with four assists, while
Erika Cross had three. Kernohan dished out two assists, while Parenteau,
Hannah Sacristan and
Meghan Tonnesen had one apiece.
Peek and
Kirsten Barth had three draw control wins for the Mountain Lions, while Lepine, Deatrick, Roach and Dover had two each.
Julia Darroch grabbed eight ground balls, while Lepine scooped up seven. Sacristan accounted for five ground balls, while
Jordan Cox, Peek and Kernohan had four each. Darroch recorded four saves in goal.
