MARS HILL, N.C. | Mars Hill University recorded an 8-5 non-conference men's lacrosse victory over Young Harris College Wednesday (April 12) evening at Meares Stadium.
The Lions improved 4-6, while the Mountain Lions fell to 6-8. Young Harris wraps up its 2017 season Saturday (April 15) with a 5 p.m. contest at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse FIeld against the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Young Harris will recognize its senior class prior to the match (approximately 4 p.m.).
Young Harris took a 3-1 lead with 6:42 remaining in the second quarter after
Bruce Silk,
Sam Gasta and
Matty Ledon scored back-to-back-to-back goals for the Mountain Lions. However, Mars Hill scored the next four goals and six of the next seven to open up a 7-4 lead with 9:06 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Gasta led YHC with three goals, while Silk and Ledon accounted for the others. Silk also registered two assists, while
Colin Fitzpatrick, Gasta and Bevan Pate had one apiece.
Zach Stephenson had 12 face-off wins for Young Harris and led the way with six ground balls.
Jake Dunlop scooped up three ground balls, while Silk,
Zach Hemans and
Kerry Ostrowski had two each.
Mason King had 12 saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
