YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Matty Ledon and
Connor Pittman each scored four goals to lead Young Harris College past the University of Alabama in Huntsville 20-6 in a non-conference men's lacrosse match Saturday (April 15) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
Pittman was one of six seniors recognized in pregame ceremonies. Along with Pittman,
Zac Barrett,
Zach Hemans,
Kerry Ostrowski,
Alex Schneider, and
Sean Siemen were honored.
The Mountain Lions ended the season with a 7-8 record with the win, while the Chargers fell to 5-7.
After UAH took a 1-0 lead, the Mountain Lions took control of the match by scoring the next four goals - two from Pittman and one each from
Colin Fitzpatrick and
Bevan Pate. Â After the Chargers closed to within a goal at 5-4 with 9:17 remaining in the second quarter, the Mountain Lions broke the game open by scoring the next 11 goals, opening up a 16-4 lead with 10:54 left in the fourth quarter.
Pate and Fitzpatrick each finished with three goals, while
Bruce Silk and
Sam Gasta found the back of the net twice, while
Chandler Bradley and
Daniel Zimny accounted for the other strikes. Silk assisted on five goals, while Gasta and Pate had two assists apiece. Bradley, Fitzpatrick and Ledon also registered an assist.
Zach Stephenson won 15 face-offs for the Mountain Lions. Stephenson,
Julian Infanti, Ostrowski, Schneider,
Jake Dunlop and Leon each scooped up four ground balls. Ostrowski also caused three turnovers.Â
Schneider has 12 saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
