Mountain Lions unseat Senators 24-8

ELKINS, W.Va. | Eleven different players scored as the Young Harris College men's lacrosse team easily defeated Davis & Elkins College 24-8 in a non-conference match at Nuttall Field.

The Mountain Lions won their second consecutive match as they improved to 4-5 on the season, while the Senators fell to 1-3. Young Harris returns to the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Tuesday (March 14) for a 4 p.m. match against Lenoir-Rhyne University.

The teams battled to a draw at 5 through the first 15 minutes of action before Young Harris took control in the second quarter with eight unanswered goals to take a 13-5 lead at the half. The Mountain Lions, which scored seven of the eight goals in the third quarter,  scored the first four goals of the second half to extend their lead to 17-5. 

Jake Dunlop led the Mountain Lions with four goals, while five other players - Bevan Pate, Sam Gasta, Colin Fitzpatrick, Bruce Silk and Matty Ledon - each found the back of the net three times. Chandler Bradley, Daniel Zimny, Zach Heman. Rob Whitaker and Sean Siemen. Pate led Young Harris, which outshot Davis & Elkins 57-18, with five assists, while Gasta added three more. Fitzpatrick and Duncan Jackson contributed two assists apiece, while Bradley and Zimny had one.

Julian Infanti led Young Harris, which held a 42-24 advantage in ground balls, with five ground balls, while Ledon scooped up four more. Silk, Zac Barrett, Darrien Mask, Dunlop, and Gasta each added three apiece. Barrett claimed 12 face-off wins for the Mountain Lions. 

Sean Dever (one) and Alex Schneider (two) combined to register three saves for the Mountain Lions in goal.
