DAVENPORT, Fla. | Emma Palumbo scored with 3:36 remaining in overtime to rally Saint Anslem College past Young Harris College 11-10 in a non-conference women's lacrosse match Monday (Marc 6) morning at Northeast Regional Park.
Saint Anslem improved to 1-1, while the Mountain Lions  fell to 4-3. Young Harris, which has played two overtime games this season, returns to the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Thursday (March 9) for a noon match against No. 5 Florida Southern College, which captured the NCAA Division II national championship in 2016.
Young Harris opened the match by scoring the first four goals to take a 4-0 lead with 12:26 remaining in the first half before take a 5-4 lead into the half. The Mountain Lions started the second half the same way they did in the first, scoring four goals to extend their lead to 9-4 with 17:58 to play. Saint Anslem rallied to score six of the final seven goals to tie the match at 10 to force overtime, setting up Palumbo's game-winning score.
Nicole Kernohan scored three goals for the Mountain Lions, while
Maddie Everhardt and
Kendra Parenteau added two apiece.
Sarah Bialecki,
Kaylynn Roach and
Katie McNutt accounted for the other goals. Bialecki dished out three assists, while
Erika Cross,
Mary Deatrick and Everhardt had one apiece.Â
Kirsten Barth,
Anna Lummus,
Elli Flaig and
Hannah Sacristan scooped up two ground balls each.
Julia Darroch notched 18 saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
