FORD CITY, Ala. | The Young Harris College men's golf team finished in third place at the UNA Spring Preview Tuesday (March 28) afternoon.
The Mountain Lions, who are ranked No. 23 in the latest Golfstat NCAA Division II Relative Ratings, finished the 54-hole event with a score of 875. Young Harris was one of five teams ranked inside the top 25 competing in the 18-team field. No. 13 Lee University won the event with a score of 854, while No. 9 University of North Alabama came in second at 868.
Young Harris finished up their second round that was halted Monday (March 27) by darkness after a three-hour rain delay with a score of 289 on the par 72, 7,126-yard Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals Fighting Joe Course before posting a 290 in the final round. The tournament served as a preview to the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regional that will be played at the RTJ course May 7-10.
Eli Crumley was named to the all-tournament team after finishing in third place at three-under par 211 after signing for rounds of 70 and 69.
David Wallin shot scores of 75 and 71 and finished in a tie for 22nd place at 219, while
Trey Pearson tied for 28th at 222 after posting scorecards of 71 and 76.
Valter Andersson had rounds of 73 and 74 and came in a tie for 31st at 223, while
John Bolger shot 80 and 83 in his two rounds Tuesday (March 28) and tied for 81st place at 241.
The Mountain Lions return to action April 15 when they begin play at the Peach Belt Conference Championship in St. Augustine, Florida.
