Tyler Washington drove in three runs as the Young Harris College baseball team picked up a 12-5 non-conference win over Cedarville University on a brisk Thursday (March 2) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.

The Mountain Lions snapped their six-game losing streak as they improved to 4-11, while Cedarville fell to 0-3. The Mountain Lions travel to Columbus, Georgia, March 10 to start a three-game Peach Belt Conference baseball series against Columbus State University.

Cedarville took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on an unearned run before the Mountain Lions answered back in the bottom half of the inning as
Zach Wall scored on a wild pitch.

Young Harris took the lead at 6-1 as they scored five times in the bottom of the fourth. The big hit was a bases-clearing double to left-center field by Washington.
Nick Sexton followed with a double to right field to score Washington and eventually came to score on a ground out to third by
Cory Ewald.

Rudy Gaona hit a two-run homer - his first of the season - to left field in the seventh to extend the Young Harris lead. Sexton added another RBI double to score Washington.

Gaona went 4-for-5 at the plate, driving in two runs and scoring two. Washington finished 3-for 5 and scored three runs. Sexton had two hits, drove in two runs and scored twice.
Zach Odom collected two hits and Wall scored three runs for the Mountain Lions.

Michael Livingston (3-1) picked up the win for Young Harris as he allowed no earned runs, scattered four hits, and struck out six in six innings. Nathan Bancroft (0-1) earned the loss for the Yellow Jackets as he surrendered six hits and six earned runs.Â
