WINTER PARK, Fla. | Rollins College jumped out to an early five-run lead and then had to hold on for a 7-6 non-conference baseball victory Sunday (Feb. 5) afternoon at Alfond Stadium.
The Tars improved to 3-0, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-3. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Feb. 8) for a 3 p.m. contest against Anderson (S.C.) University in Anderson, South Carolina.
Rollins took a 5-0 lead after three innings after the Tars scored twice in the second and three more times an inning later.  Peter Nicoletti and Philip Burket each drove in runs off Mountain Lion starterÂ
Zach Hopkins (0-1) in the second. Burket added a two-run double in the third  and Mike Purcell drove in another with a single.Â
The Mountain Lions began their comeback with three runs in the fourth inning.
Zach Beggs led off with a home run to right field.
Adrik Yacelga added a sacrifice fly before
Zach Odom closed out the inning with a RBI single to close the deficit to 5-3. The Tars added a run in the bottom half of the inning before YHC scored twice in the fifth to get within a run at 6-5 on Beggs' second homer of the game - a two-run blast to the right-center field gap.
Rollins added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth before the Mountain Lions pushed across an unearned run in the eighth to again get within a run at 7-6.
Young Harris outhit Rollins for the second consecutive game 15-6; however, the Mountain Lions stranded 13 runners on base. Odom led the Mountain Lions with four hits, while

Rudy Gaona and Beggs supplied two hits apiece.
A.J. Chacon (1-0) earned the win in relief for the Tars, with Joey Vecchione picking up his second save with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
