TIGERVILLE, S.C. | North Greenville University scored eight of nine goals during one stretch to defeat Young Harris College 14-6 in a men's lacrosse match Saturday (Feb. 25) afternoon at Pepsi Stadium.
The Crusaders improved to 2-1, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-3. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (March 4) when they face No. 15 Lynn University in a 4 p.m. match at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, Georgia.
After the Mountain Lions pulled to within a goal at 4-3 after
Bruce Silk found the back of the net off a
Bevan Pate assist with 4:26 remaining before halftime, the Crusaders then scored eight of the next nine goals to open up a 12-4 advantage with 5:00 minutes left in the third quarter.
Sam Gasta and
Colin Fitzpatrick each scored twice for the Mountain Lions, while Silk and
Zach Stephenson accounted for the other goals. Pate added two assists.Â
Stephenson led YHC with six faceoffs, while
Zac Barrett added five. Stephenson scooped up six ground balls for the Mountain Lions while Barrett added five more. Silk grabbed four ground balls, while
Zach Hemans had three.Â
Young Harris held a 38-28 margin in shots, while North Greenville scored three goals with the extra-man advantage.Â
Mason King (two) and
Sean Dever (five) combined to stop seven shots in goal for the Mountain Lions.
