YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College scored the game's first eight goals en route to a 24-5 Gulf South Conference women's lacrosse victory over the University of Montevallo Sunday (Feb. 19) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 2-1 overall and to 1-1 in the league, while the Falcons fell to 2-2 and 0-2. Young Harris hits the road for the first time in 2017 as the Mountain Lions travel to Cleveland, Tennessee, for a 4 p.m. GSC match against first-year program Lee University.
Kendra Parenteau scored three times and
Sarah Bialecki added two more scores as the Mountain Lions jumped out to an 8-0 lead just 11 minutes into the match. The Mountain Lions led 15-3 at the half.
Parenteau led the Mountain Lions with six goals overall, while Bialecki added four more.
Kaylynn Roach,
Nicole Kernohan and
Maddie Peek each collected three scores, while
Rachel Lepine,
Maddie Everhardt,
Leigh Anne Turner,
Erika Cross and
Kelsey Dover each found the scoring column. Lepine added four assists while Bialecki and Cross each contributed two apiece. Everhardt and Parenteau each added an assist for Young Harris, which held a 43-12 advantage on shots.
Cross paced the Mountain Lions with five draw controls, while
Kirsten Barth had four and
Mary Deatrick added three. Bialecki,
Elli Flaig led YHC with four ground balls, while Peek and
Hannah Sacristan scooped up three more each.
Julia Darroch recorded the win in goal for Young Harris as she stopped five shots.
