FLEMING ISLAND, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's golf team finished in second place at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate Tuesday (Feb. 14) afternoon.
The Mountain Lions shot a 288 in the final round on the par 71, 6,780-yard layout at The Golf Club at Fleming Island to finish the 54-hole tournament at 868, three strokes behind tournament host Lincoln Memorial University. The Railsplitters, who are ranked No. 24 in the latest Golf Coaches Association of America's top 25 poll, won the 15-team event at 865. The Mountain Lions were seven shots clear of fellow Peach Belt Conference-foe Flagler College (875), who is ranked No. 25 nationally.
David Wallin was the top finisher for the Mountain Lions as he fired a one-over par 72 in the final round to finish in third place at 214.
Eli Crumley also recorded a top-10 finish as he tied for eighth place at 216 after carding an even-par 71, while
Valter Andersson finished in a tie for 11th after his 71 gave him a three-round total of 217.
John Bolger carded a 79 in the final round and tied for 33rd place at 226, while
Trey Pearson had a 74 and came in 48th at 231.
The Mountain Lions return to action Feb. 27 at the Armstrong State Pirate Men's Invitational in Pooler, Georgia.
