ANDERSON, S.C. | The Young Harris College women's tennis team rallied for a 5-4 non-conference victory over Anderson (S.C.) University Saturday (Feb. 11) afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex.
Young Harris improved to 3-1, while Anderson fell to 4-2. The Mountain Lions remain on the road for a noon match against Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina.
Anderson took a 2-1 lead after doubles, but
Eva Castiglioni pulled the Mountain Lions even at 2 as she took a straight-set win at No. 1 singles. The Mountain Lions took a 3-2 lead after
Carol Quevedo recorded a 6-2,6-2 win at No. 5 singles, but the Trojans tied it at 3 after they claimed the No. 4 singles. However, Young Harris clinched the match after back-to-back wins by
Maria Puerta at No. 6 and
Oriana Labaqui at No. 3. Labaqui claimed a 6-1, 6-7, 6-2 decision to give the Mountain Lions the win in the five-hour match.
